Galvanized by the U.S. Surgeon General’s call to action, Young Futures — an emerging nonprofit on a mission to make the digital world a healthier place to grow up — launched a $1 million commitment in partnership with the Foundation for Social Connection. The initiative supports early-stage nonprofits developing solutions that help young people and their caregivers stay rooted in healthy, connected relationships. Seed-funded by Pivotal Ventures, the Susan Crown Exchange, and The Goodness Web, Young Futures champions social connection, belonging, and well-being for teens in a tech-driven world.
To strengthen the communications capacity of its grantees, Young Futures partnered with Storytelling for Good to design and lead a four-month cohort training series. In close collaboration with the client team, we delivered an immersive experience for leaders at 10 nonprofits combining interactive workshops with personalized office hours. The curriculum covered strategic communications, audience mapping, messaging, storytelling, asset-based framing, media relations, and thought leadership.
Exit survey results showed 100% of participants reported increased confidence and competence in their skills. Communications training was also voted the most valuable aspect of the Young Futures Academy. That success has led to our continued engagement, supporting the 2025 cohort of Young Futures Innovators.
