Kerry-Ann Hamilton is a purpose-driven communications strategist with more than two decades of experience in media relations, brand positioning, cause communications, crisis management, and nonprofit engagement. She has partnered with local and global changemakers to build their communications capacity and tell stories that inspire action.
Kerry-Ann, CEO and founder of Storytelling for Good, partners with social impact organizations to effectively frame the challenge they are working to solve, mobilize action, and amplify their impact. She brings multi-sector experience from her work in international development, journalism, higher education, and cause communications. Previously, Kerry-Ann was a Senior Vice President at GMMB, a pioneering advocacy and creative agency in Washington, D.C., and led external communications for The Omidyar Group.
She leverages her diverse background to provide strategic counsel on various issues related to education, global health and development, gender equality, economic inclusion, corporate citizenship, and volunteerism. Kerry-Ann has led large, complex campaigns, working closely with philanthropies, corporations, nonprofit leaders, and community stakeholders.
Kerry-Ann earned her Ph.D. in global communications from Howard University, a master’s degree from the School of International Service at American University, and a certificate in higher education leadership from Harvard University. She is the immediate past Board Chair for Girls Inc. D.C. and a former American University Alumni Board member.
Last fall, the Storytelling for Good team received three industry awards from PR for earned media and advocacy campaigns. In 2022, Kerry-Ann received the Ragan Communications and PR Daily Top Women in Communications Award for her impactful contributions to the field. In 2020, Kerry-Ann was named to the Washington Business Journal’s prestigious 40 Under 40 class, recognizing leadership in business and meaningful community engagement. Notably, she won a Telly Award and received an Emmy nomination from the National Capital and Chesapeake Bay Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for “Katrina: A Break in the Storm,” a documentary filmed six months after category 5 Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast. She is an award-winning photographer who enjoys biking, kayaking, traveling, and the great outdoors.
